I purchased an engagement ring at Kennedy’s, and was very impressed by their superior customer service. I began my search for a ring at the large “chain” jewelers, and I did not like what they had to offer. They made me feel insignificant, like I was just another customer. When ... browsing their inventory (on-hand), most of the rings were sub par, and were not the quality I was looking for. When I asked to look at better quality, they were only willing to show me on a computer screen. I quickly began exploring other options, and a friend referred me to Kennedy’s. As soon as I walked into the store, I was met by Trisha with a warm welcome and a cup of coffee. Next thing I know, I am looking at diamonds of all quality levels and prices, so that I can decide what is right for me and learn more about diamonds in general. I gave her my budget, and the type of diamond/band that I was looking for. Trisha brought in over 5 diamonds of various sizes and quality levels. Once I found the perfect diamond, I set the purchase in motion. Trisha called me the next day to tell me there was another diamond of almost the exact same quality at a lower price. This is now the diamond my fiance’ has on her finger! Throughout the purchase, I learned about the characteristics of the diamond itself. Further, Trisha explained all of my options for having it cleaned, insured, and how to maintain its quality. She even factored in my fiance’s occupation when deciding on the type of band/setting. This significant of a purchase can be rather stressful, so this level of service made the process much more comforting. As told by Austin. Around January of this year, I sensed that God was telling me it was the right time to propose to my fiancée. February 12th I purchased a beautiful 14k white gold ring with 8 small diamonds on one of the twists and a round cut center ... diamond from Kennedy’s. My fiancé Rachel is very traditional so the ring suits her perfectly! I had my Mom call Rachel and ask her to help her plan a surprise birthday party for my 22nd birthday. What Rachel didn’t know was that she, in fact, would be the one surprised. The “Surprise Birthday Party” was actually going to be a surprise engagement party for her, well, for us! I also invited our immediate and extended families to come in town and share in our big moment. On the afternoon of the party, Rachel’s assignment was to distract me while the “birthday party” was being set up. When we arrived at my house I asked why all the cars were there and accused her of putting together a surprise party. We got out of the car and followed a trail of rose petals to the backyard where the real surprise was waiting. A tulle-covered gazebo complete with chandelier, twinkling lights and dozens of pictures of the two of us had been set up. Our favorite love song was playing as we walked the trail of rose petals. Two professional photographers were waiting to capture the big moment. She was speechless as I led her into the gazebo to tell her for the first time that I am absolutely in love with her. I told her to close her eyes and I picked up the ring that was waiting in the gazebo. She opened her eyes as I got down on one knee and asked her to be my wife. She said yes! I put the ring on her finger, then admitted to her that this was not a birthday party, but an engagement party! Our wedding was awesome! December 30, 2006, a Christmas wedding. It was held at The Mansion House in Independence and the reception at The Blue Springs Country Club. The day started with a bridesmaids brunch at my parents house, then to the salon, then the house to get ready……..all in ... the rain! When it was time for the ceremony to start, we ran from the main house to the carriage house, past the carolers who were outside dressed in clothes from A Christmas Carol and singing to my guests. The music I had chosen was very touching and made me start blubbering! Finally when the doors opened, I was balling and I looked down at Jason and he was too! Slowly, more and more sniffles came from the crowd. It was really sweet. Jim Kennedy, a lifelong friend of my husband’s family and the preacher of our church married us, which meant a lot. At the reception, we ate from the buffet and danced a choreographed waltz to “Come Away With Me” by Nora Jones, and Trisha Kennedy caught the bouquet!
